Just a cozy 1.2 square mile neighborhood, but it packs a punch! A picturesque enclave in Los Angeles known for its serene atmosphere and rich entertainment history.
The history of Toluca Lake can be traced to the days of the Tongva Indians, followed by Spanish colonization and Mexican independence. Toluca Lake was part of the early rancho system. The name is also given to a private natural lake fed by the Los Angeles River and maintained by neighboring property owners. YES, there is actually a lake! The most expensive homes in the neighborhood, of course, are situated lakeside.
The original Toluca Lake was divided, with the neighborhood being known as Forman Toluca Ranch. In 1923, investors bought and developed the land as “Toluca Lake Park”. The neighborhood has had notable residents. Ronald and Nancy Reagan held their wedding reception in Toluca Lake. Comedian Bob Hope was a longtime resident of Toluca Lake. He was a friend of my cousins'. Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra have also called Toluca Lake home in the past. More recently, it has been the home of entertainers such as Miley Cyrus, Viola Davis, Steve Carell, and Melissa McCarthy. Homes for Sale in Toluca Lake can certainly have some rich Hollywood History attached to them!
Large trees line many of the streets and provide shade necessary for non-succulent-type plants to grow into a floral oasis. Literally stop to smell the roses on Moorpark across from Bob Hope’s former home.
